RON FRANCIS
Ron Francis (b.1966, Philadelphia) is recognized for his large scale works and expressively textured paintings. Francis is obsessively embarking in a passionate direction inward. Then outward, this is brought to life. Using raw and sometimes crude applications of materials that he uses to execute his works. He Immerses himself on material exploration, the innate gestures, and the intimate connection between the artist and his work. Ron Francis seeks to surpass conceptual obstacles. Francis gives numbers as " Titles" to many of his artworks. With the intention of eliminating any tendency, or connection beyond the work’s present existence. The work itself immediately becomes the past and a relic symbolizing the artist’s thought. Using material and alchemy that brought the artwork into creation in that moment. With the ambivalent direction of our future landscapes. Ron Francis has long been influenced by nature and alchemy. Is influenced by the work of other artists paving the way. They range from masters such as Antonio Tapies for his diverse applications, Daniel Arsham for symbolic dialogue and contemporary appeal, Michelle Stuart for her early innovation and Louise Nevelson for object relationship's. Francis is a self taught artist constantly evolving into self.
